2018 THE GOOD DOCTOR'S CURE Mataro Shiraz
"An extremely characterful wine of power and a riveting exactitude of tannic burr. Meaty, carnal, ferrous. Sanguine. Gorgeous tannins of thorough persuasiveness. I would like a little mid-palate plushness, possibly deliverable care of grenache in the future. Very good, in any case, to see shiraz play its rightful back-burner role across a swashbuckling expression of strident confidence and wonderful tannins." 2023 Halliday Wine Companion

“Attractive red fruit & herbal aromas, super rich palate with masses of delightful flavours & a tight lingering finish- enjoy with food or decant!! AN ABSOLUTE RIPPER!!” Dan Traucki

2019 THE GOOD DOCTOR'S CURE Mataro Shiraz

“Dark, brooding, ferrous wine of distinct personality and impact. Black fruit, liquorice, some dried herb perfume and dark spice. It’s slick and concentrated, packing in plenty of Mataro character, Old Jamaica chocolate and blackberry, smooth cocoa powder tannin, and a robust finish of excellent length. Really very good, and while potent, it keeps itself balanced and drinks well.” Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

2021 FU MANCHU rose

An excellent rosé, plying a weld of texture, gentle aldehydic complexities and a deck of savouriness over the usual anodyne fruity palate and tweaked freshness. Orange balm hue. This will not be everyone’s cup of tea. But for those who have whiled away an afternoon in a raffish Marseille bar yearning for something beyond the nanny state, here is your vaccine of root spice, tangerine, lapsang, turmeric and salted Asian plum. Intriguing. Idiosyncratic for these shores. Uber minimalist done impeccably well and most importantly, highly delicious. A wine to open the mind.” 2023 Halliday Wine Companion

2020 FU MANCHU cabernet

“Sage, dried tomato and mulberry leaf, a whiff of camphor and a fine play of spearmint-soused tannins amidst an interplay of cassis and tobacco. Savoury. Of fine tannic hew. A little drying, but full weighted, expressive and of an approachable immediacy that is winning.” 2023 Halliday Wine Companion

2021 FU MANCHU montepulciano

There is loads to like here. From the firm tannins – grape skin and pulp, as if mashed with peppecorn and clove – to the thirst-quenching slake of juiciness, floral lift and effusive freshness. Mid weighted, firmly packed, tightly furled and unleashed with air, if not a bit drying..” 2023 Halliday Wine Companion

“Young vines, gorgeous deep purple colour, tight, bright bouquet with red berries, herbs & just a splash of black olives. The palate has masses of rich, yummy flavours with great depth & a tight but not too tannic finish. Give it some time or rich food. A RISING STAR as the vines gain some age.Dan Traucki

2012 THE GOOD DOCTOR'S TONIC tannat cabernet shiraz

“Unashamedly full bodied. A bit soupy. Root spice. Riffs on sarsaparilla, clove, tinderbox and Asian medicine cabinet. A richly endowed wine that is savoury, nourishing, brimming with umami and ready to drink.” 2023 Halliday Wine Companion

"Bold elixir"- massively deep in colour, complex aromas with some delightful maturation characters- OMG the palate- has absolute lashings of deep rich, outstanding flavours & ends in a slick svelte lingering finish. FRICKING FANTASTIC!!!” Dan Traucki

“A blend of Tannat, Cabernet and Shiraz with fruit sourced from McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills, it carries the said 15.5% alcohol with absolute ease and it holds its shape impressively. Generous doses of licorice and licorice bullets, dark chocolate, fruit cake and pretty scents of violets are enough to send you into a spin. Dense and silky smooth, it just keeps giving and makes me think of those lyrics from Madonna, "I can't help falling in love, I fall deeper and deeper the further I go." Just magic given its age - all for 40 bucks. Well played Doctor.” QWine Reviews

2022 FU MANCHU mourvedre

Dry and mouth-sapping, waves of spices wash through effortlessly. One thing you can't miss is the layers of interest that seem never-ending.

Sour morello cherries, black plums and red apple skin make up the fruit profile with sheets of savoury goodness coming in the form of pan juices, nutmeg, beef jerky, dusty earthiness plus an array of exotic and fine spices. A faint orange peel cameo comes late with a red cherry farewell urging you to come back for more. Solid gear and a big thumbs up from me.

Drink to three years. QWine Reviews
