Chateau Dateau

Cabernet Shiraz 2016

Welcome to Chateau Dateau, the palace of dreams. A flagrant disregard for the aristocracy and an Aussie reinvention for the hoi palloi. A place where fun and childhood memorabilia collide with grown up day jobs and new found passions. An evolving reflection of vintage, each label with a varietal expression different to the last.

An incredibly approachable, textural and dangerously smashable wine. The tannins are long, fine and moreish. Roast coffee grounds, the darkest of dark chocolate and more dark berries. Comprehensively, this wine is an over achiever.

This is a serious wine with an impressive level of integration in its youth. The classic Aussie blend reinvented – a full throttle, reverse doughnut new-age Claret. This black, broody beast offers up layers of boot polish, worn leather and intriguing salty characteristics; Dutch liquorice, squid ink and black olive. Redolent memories of stoking the Weber, salt crusted lamb and smoky rosemary baste. Under all that comes the alluring juicy, ripe blackberry and cassis. The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz is an incredibly approachable, textural and dangerously smashable wine. The tannins are long, fine and moreish. Roast coffee grounds, the darkest of dark chocolate and more dark berries. Comprehensively, this wine is an over achiever.

A full bodied Cabernet Shiraz blend is dark and broody with layers of black fruit, umami flavours and moreish fine tannins.
