Paeroa Vineyards is aptly named for its location, translating from a Maori word meaning 'long ridge'. Nestled at the base of the Willunga foothills and only kilometres from the Gulf of St. Vincent, the prevailing winds are tenacious and the sunshine unwavering. These conditions are ideal for grape growing, reducing risk of frost and mildew and amplifying ripening conditions.

McLaren Vale is one of the most geologically diverse regions in the world. More than 40 unique geologies are present in our region and vary in age from 15,000 years to over 550 million years. Our site is largely ironstone over clay. This particular soil profile encourages aromatics and structural tannins in grapes.

Composting Lawn Mowers at Work.

Part of our sustainable ethos involves reducing machinery and chemical use in our vineyard and employing environmentally sustainable practices. These gals do a stellar job of keeping winter grasses and weeds down while leaving the gift of fertiliser behind.
